Learn how to teach square dancing, line dancing, contra dancing, big circles, Sicilian circles and trios!
Who should attend: K-12 teachers, professors, and college students who are interested in dance as part of a physical education or recreation program.
Workshop Goal: To provide teachers with usable dances with only a small set of directional commands that can be quickly taught to students.
This workshop is designed for intermediate callers and square dancers. Beginners are welcome.
Instructors
Bob Riggs, of Centennial, Colorado and Chairman, CALLERLAB Committee for Community Dance, has 35 years teaching experience in square dance, contra and line dance fun-including working with K-12 schools and universities.
Calvin Campbell, of Castle Rock, Colorado, has 55 years "calling" experience and is author of Dancing for Busy People.
Betsy Gotta, of North Brunswick, NJ, started calling in high school, has been calling for 48 years and is a CALLERLAB Accredited Caller Coach...More instructors TBA.
Workshop Program
Saturday 16, 2011
Morning-Three hours focused on using dance material for community dances, i.e. limited basics programs offered to groups that meet infrequently.
Afternoon-Three hours focused on you the leader presenting dances in various formations that use common terms and concepts that square and round leaders already use.
Sunday 17, 2011
Morning-Four hours focused in skills of dance presentation, entertainment and variety of material that you can use in a variety of situations.
PLUS: "Community for Community" and Traditional Dance (3-5pm)
