Heritage Award

The Heritage Award is awarded every year during the AAHPERD National Convention & Exposition to NDA members who have shown significant service to the National Dance Association, to other dance organizations, or to dance in general. The first Heritage Award was presented in 1963. All official nominations must be made by members of the NDA Heritage Committee.

Selection Criteria

The nominee shall have made outstanding contributions of national or international significance to dance in some of the following categories:

  • Teaching excellence
  • Establishment or administration of a functioning dance department, center or program
  • Research or publication
  • Consulting
  • Choreography
  • Performance
  • Notation
  • Related Arts
