DonateFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD) announces new Web site at www.aahperd.org
Reston, VA, October 8, 2009-AAHPERD announces the launch of its newly redesigned Web sites. We gave AAHPERD and its National and District Associations a new visual look, added features designed to improve usability, cut the clutter to make it easier to find what's most important, and implemented improved navigation and search capability.
"It is exciting to have an updated Web site with a new visual look as we begin the celebration of AAHPERD's 125th year. This new site will be the premiere online destination for our members and the public to find the most cutting edge information on health and physical education, recreation, and dance and the important roles our members play in promoting healthy, active lifestyles." Dr. Dana Brooks, AAHPERD President
As with all things on the Internet today, sharing is essential. The new site utilizes Web technology to foster content sharing across the national and district associations of AAHPERD. To create that functionality, AAHPERD integrated PaperThin's content management system, CommonSpot, to help make sharing content and site management easier, and provide an organized process for regular updates. One example of content sharing is the master events calendar. All AAHPERD national and local events appear on the home page calendar as well as being automatically displayed in the events section on the applicable national association calendar.
Additional new site features include:
Says Mike Davis, AAHPERD CEO, "We are very excited about AAHPERD's new Web site. It is designed to better communicate with all of our members and provide important information to the general public about our Alliance. The improved navigation and design along with a powerful search engine will better explain who we are and what we do. In addition, the site provides increased opportunities to further develop an e-community through sophisticated social networking options."
