Pamela Noakes

Executive Director, National Association for Girls and Women in Sport (NAGWS)

Pamela Noakes is executive director of the National Association for Girls and Women in Sport (NAGWS), a national organization focusing on advocacy for girls and women in sport including work in support of Title IX legislation and protection, ensuring quality sport programming for female athletes, and continued research on issues relevant to girls and women in sport.

Previously Noakes spent 15 years at Rutgers University as Director of Recreation in addition to a number of years in sport/recreation administration and teaching/coaching. She has developed a number of programs specifically focusing on women in sport including several sport training preparation programs and a community forum/banquet honoring community members who contributed to the success of women in sport. She has guided student athletes in academic success, training, and recruiting, and has a special interest in sport equity issues. She has undergraduate degrees in Journalism and Physical Education/Recreation from Kent State University and a graduate degree in Physical Education Teaching & Administration from Springfield College. Noakes also has training and experience in Urban Planning specifically focusing on design and use of public recreational space.
