Curriculum Alignment: A View from Physical Education Teacher Education
Sean M. Bulger, Lynn D. Housner, & Amelia M. Lee

Abstract:
Kinesiological studies, broadly defined as the subdisciplines of human movement, have been prominent in the evolution of the profession and have been included in the national standards for both K-12 physical education and beginning and advanced teachers. Therefore, kinesiological studies should contribute substantively to the preparation of preservice and inservice teachers and to the provision of quality K-12 programs of physical education. However, critical issues remain to be resolved regarding the most effective ways of delivering and using kinesiology to inform professional preparation and K-12 physical education. This article presents ideas about how kinesiology can be more fully integrated into physical education in university and K-12 curricula and how kinesiology can contribute substantive innovations in school-based programs of physical education.
