Biomechanics in the Postsecondary Population: Are We Taking Our Best Shot?
H. Scott Strohmeyer
Abstract:
This article makes a strong plea for biomechanists who define themselves as “applied” to become truly applied in their collaboration with other fields working with physical activity. The author believes that biomechanists rarely discuss the application of their findings and that if biomechanists’ work is to have an effect on the state of physical activity, this must be done. This article also looks at the NASPE Biomechanics Academy and how its work brings to NASPE and AAHPERD the applied focus greatly needed in the profession.
