Bowling for a Lifetime Using Sport Education
Tony Pritchard & Starla McCollum

Abstract:
One of the goals of physical educators is to expose students to various types of activities that they can continue to participate in throughout life. Bowling is a popular sport among middle and high school students and is a great lifetime physical activity. However, teaching bowling by direct instruction may be boring to students; thus, choosing an instructional model to make the content exciting can be very beneficial. The sport education model is an instructional model that prepares students to become competent, literate, and enthusiastic toward a particular sport. The purpose of this article is to describe the characteristics of the sport education model and how it can be implemented to teach bowling.
