Digital Portfolios in Physical Education Teacher Preparation
Mel L. Horton
Abstract:
Teacher preparation programs are continually seeking ways to document teacher candidate performance. With the inception of the new physical education NCATE standards, documenting P-12 student performance is of utmost importance. The purpose of this article is to identify one way of achieving both of these goals—digital portfolios. With digital portfolios, candidates can demonstrate the achievement of the standards of content knowledge, growth and development, diversity, planning and instruction, assessment, infusion of technology, collaboration, communication, management and motivation, as well as reflection. The article provides specific examples for each of these 10 standards.
