Moving Souls
Synthia Sydnor
Abstract:
This article highlights several current themes in historical research that hold promise for integrating the philosophy, direction, and actual practice of physical activity for young adults. It suggests that the discipline of history is a useful touchstone when planning young adult physical activities. Changes have been plentiful in terms of what is considered acceptable physical activity, and the author of this article suggests that a large variety of events (including off-beat activities such as “extreme ironing”)- should also be looked at for the role they can play in the promotion of physical activity.
