Pedometers: Answers to FAQs from Teachers

Abstract:
Pedometers are becoming popular tools for monitoring the physical activity levels of students. This article answers a number of frequently asked questions related to activity promotion for youths. Questions asked cover a variety of topics, including what pedometers measure, their accuracy, and their use in physical education settings. Suggestions are offered related to the number of daily steps to take and goal setting strategies. Pedometers are an excellent tool to use to measure program success and teacher accountability. This article closes with some practical tips about implementation.
