Introduction
Phillip Ward, Feature Editor
Abstract: The assessment of preservice teachers in physical education has relied heavily on demonstrating what they know and can do, which forms the basis for judgments made by faculty about their readiness to teach. Traditional methods, despite their usefulness, assess only the process of teaching rather than the product of teaching—student learning. Teacher work samples (TWS) have emerged as an effective strategy to present credible evidence of what preservice teachers know and can do. The articles in this feature provide various perspectives and examples of the use of TWS in physical education teacher education.
