The purpose of this article is to highlight tactical similarities in selected combative sport activities and to provide martial arts and wrestling instructors with an alternative teaching approach. The article begins with a brief description of the tactical games approach and gives some background information on martial arts. This is followed by a section that introduces the tactical problems inherent in many combative activities. The final section provides tips for using this approach to teach combative sport activities.
