The Landing Phase of a Jump: Strategies to Minimize Injuries
Eadric Bressel & John Cronin
Abstract:
While much is known about the athletic world, there remains a niche relatively unstudied until now: the jump. This article focuses on the landing phase of a jump. The first section discusses the forces associated with landing and strategies to manipulate them to avoid injury. Most examples are related to volleyball and basketball, as these sports include a great number of jump-landing sequences and are played by many people throughout the world. However, the content in this article has application across all types of activities and sports.
