Training the Baseball Hitter: What Does Research Say?
Robin Lund & Dan Heefner

Abstract:
Compared to other sports, baseball has lagged in regard to the development of drills and training methodology grounded in scientific fact. An understanding of the mechanics of the baseball swing is critical when attempting to formulate an appropriate training methodology for the baseball hitter. The purpose of this article is to use previous studies to describe proper swing mechanics and to provide examples of drills that could be used to emphasize these mechanics. In addition, the concepts of bat velocity and bat quickness are discussed.
