Using Videotaped Athletic Contests Within Mosston’s Teaching Methods
Chad Seifried
Abstract:
This article discusses the merits of employing videotaped athletic footage in physical education classes and shows how filmed athletic contests have the potential to enhance student learning. The author argues that videotapes are especially useful within the context of several of the teaching styles described by Mosston and Ashworth, specifically guided discovery, divergent teaching, and self-check. This article also demonstrates how filmed athletic contests can instill motivation, an essential component of student learning.
