"Not That There's Anything Wrong With That": Dealing with Differences Across the Profession
Introduction
Laura M. Finch & Bonnie Blankenship, Feature Editors
Abstract: As classrooms and athletic venues become more and more diverse, it has become essential for teachers and coaches to learn to embrace, respect, and manage differences among students, team members, staff, and parents. In this feature, the symposium authors reflect on topics such as the historical and philosophical underpinnings of prejudice and bias, weight stigma and fat bias, and understanding race and religious differences. They also use their disciplinary expertise to deconstruct stereotypes and embrace diversity.
