Creating a Program Advisory Board: A Key Advocacy and Marketing Strategy for Longevity in Turbulent Times
Lisa Hicks, Heidi Hancher-Rauch, Jennifer VanSickle, & Audrey Satterblom
Abstract: The reduction of physical education programs in favor of other academic areas or as a result of budget cuts necessitates that teachers and faculty take steps to advocate for physical education and other wellness-related programs. The purpose of this article is to share a model for creating an advisory board at the P-12 or higher education level that can advocate, market, and create community partnerships for wellness, physical education, health, and kinesiology programs. The advisory board acts as a sounding panel that is able to offer ideas, expertise, experience, and honest advice.
