The Role of PE Metrics in Physical Education Teacher Education
Ben Dyson & Lori H. Williams
Abstract: Comparable to the K-12 teacher who is charged with demonstrating student achievement, the physical education teacher education (PETE) faculty member is charged with preparing teacher candidates to enter the profession with the knowledge and skills needed to deliver a standards-based physical education program. PE Metrics provides the K-12 teacher as well as the PETE faculty member with valid and reliable assessment materials needed for meeting their charge. This article describes ways in which PETE faculty can use PE Metrics to address Standard 1 of the national standards to prepare teacher candidates.
