Abstract: A growing trend among today’s youths is the specialization in one sport or in one position in a sport, at increasingly younger ages. Several questions about the benefits and dangers of early sport specialization were raised at the 2010 National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE) All-Academy Symposium, “Promises and Pitfalls of Sport Specialization in Youth Sport,” at the AAHPERD National Convention in Indianapolis. Experts from each NASPE Academy interest area presented on the topic from the perspective they represented. The articles in this feature summarize each presentation.
