Welcome New Officers

The Research Consortium is pleased two welcome two newly elected officers to the Research Consortium Executive Board.

Ang Chen, University of North Carolina at Greensboro will serve as the RC President-elect for 2010-11. Dr. Chen is a professor in the Department of Kinesiology at UNCG. He earned his Ph.D. in Kinesiology at the University of Maryland in 1993 and has taught at the University of Hawaii-Manoa, Arizona State University, and the University of Maryland. Dr. Chen has served AAHPERD in many capacities including as Chair of NASPE's Curriculum and Instruction Academy, section editor for RQES, and member of  numerous RC committees. Dr. Chen is a very active researcher in children / adolescent motivation and learning in physical education. He has published over 40 research articles and has made over 70 presentations at national and international conferences.

Kim Graber, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign will serve as the RC Secretary for 2010-12. Dr. Graber received her Ed.D. from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1988 and is currently an associate professor in UIUC's Department of Kinesiology and Community Health. Her research interests include children's wellness, teacher education, and the scholarship of teaching and learning. She has authored over 50 chapters/articles, presented at more than 100 national and international conferences, edited two monographs, and co-authored two books as a member of the NASPE Assessment Task Force. Among other service roles, she has served as president of NASPE and recently completed a three-year term as chair of the Research Consortium's AAHPERD Research Grants Committee. 

Also joining the board this year are Emily Wughalter, San Jose State University as the RC Representative to the AAHPERD Board of Governors, Bonnie Blankenship, Purdue University, as the NASPE Representative and Senlin Chen, University of North Carolina at Greensboro, as the Doctoral Student Representative.
