This column of Research Tracks started with our last issue and has been developed to share recent accomplishments and honors of members. Congratulations to all of these members on their achievements and recognition!

Theresa Purcell Cone, Rowan University, Peter Werner and Stephen L. Cone, have published a 2009 2nd edition of Interdisciplinary Elementary Physical Education with Human Kinetics publisher.  

Hermann-Josef Engels, Wayne State University,has been named the 2009 Midwest District AAHPERD Scholar.

Heidi Grappendorf, North Carolina State University, is a 2009 recipient of AAHPERD’s Mabel Lee Award.

Thomas Kaminski, University of Delaware, has been named Editor-in-Chief of Athletic Training and Sports Health Care, a new journal that is launching in January 2009 from SLACK publishers.

Tom Sharpe has accepted a position as Professor and Graduate Program Director of the Board Certified Behavior Analysis Program in the School of Professional Psychology, College of Social Sciences and Humanities, at Spalding University, Kentucky. He also continues as Director and CEO of Educational Consulting, Inc. with home offices in Florida and web contact of www.skware.com.

J.O. Spengler, University of Florida, received a research grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (Active Living Research Program) to study the impact of macro-level policy on the community use of schools for recreation and physical activity.

William Stier, Jr., The College at Brockport, State University of New York, has had his 350th career journal article published in Applied Research in Coaching and Athletics Annual. In addition, Dr. Stier had his 21st book published in August of 2008, Instructor’s Resource Manual and Test Bank for Sport Management—The Business of Sport with American Press, Boston, MA.

Paul Wright, University of Memphis, will serve as the evaluation consultant on the NASPE/AAPAR, four-year, $12 million grant from the Federal Administration for Children and Families (ACF) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), National Head Start Agency.

Hans van der Mars, Arizona State University, was named as the 2009 Southwest District AAHPERD Scholar.

John Zody, Fort Hays State University, was named 2009 Central District AAHPERD Scholar.
