Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport (RQES) is a highly respected professional journal offering the latest research in the art and science of human movement studies. This comprehensive professional journal features articles and research notes encompassing such topic areas as biomechanics, epidemiology, motor behavior, measurement and evaluation, physiology, pedagogy, psychology and history/philosophy/sociocultural foundations. The journal publishes over 50 papers per year in four issues (March, June, September, & December) and an annual online supplement containing approximately 250 abstracts of presentations from the Research Consortium Conference of the AAHPERD National Convention and Exposition.

Mission and Goals

RQES publishes research in the art and science of human movement that significantly contributes to the knowledge and development of theory either as new information, reviews, substantiation or contradiction of previous findings, or as application of new or improved techniques.

The goals of RQES are to provide a scholarly outlet for knowledge that:

  1. contributes to the study of human movement, particularly its cross-disciplinary and interdisciplinary nature.
  2. impacts theory and practice regarding human movement.
  3. stimulates research about human movement.
  4. provides theoretical reviews and tutorials related to the study of human movement.
