Welcome to the Researchers' Toolkit

Toobox graphicHere you will find a variety of professional development tools and resources for physical activity and health researchers. Information includes self-guided tutorials, fact sheets, check lists, worksheets and a collaborative wiki. An ongoing project of the Consortium, new tools will be added regularly, including both new topics and deeper coverage of existing topics.

Who should use the toolkit?

This toolkit is intended for faculty use in their instruction and advising; and for early career researchers and graduate students as a personal resource and professional development. Many of these resources are ideal for graduate seminar classes. Material will include a combination of public-access content and members-only content. Members-only material will be indicated by the symbolicon_memberOnly following the title of the resource.

What content is included?

The toolkit is currently in development and content will be divided into three toolboxes. The initial content described below will be released over the coming year. An expanded menu is in the planning stages for future development and release.

  • Getting Started - This toolbox will contain the following topics: Getting Started in Research, Resources for Becoming a Better Researcher, and specific resources for graduate students and early career professionals such as Mentoring and Being Mentored and Tips for Preparing and Presenting Your Vita
  • Conducting Research - This toolbox will contain the following topics: Developing a Fundable Grant Proposal, Developing a Research Team, Research Ethics
  • Disseminating Research - This toolbox will contain the following topics: Developing a Publishable Research Manuscript and Preparing an Effective Research Presentation
