Continuing Education Contact Hours

The AAHPERD associations are pleased to offer contact hours toward recertification and/or professional development through participation in specified national convention program sessions. Hours may need to be approved by the individual school districts, based on state or local requirements.

American Association for Health Education (AAHE)

AAHE awards Category I Continuing Education Contact Hours (CECH) to participating Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES) as a designated provider for the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing.

Beginning with the 2012 convention, AAHE is awarding Category I CECH to participating Master Certified Health Education Specialists (MCHES). 

AAHE has been approved to offer approximately 36.5 CHES credit hours and 35.5 MCHES credit hours for convention sessions attended. View the sessions approved for CHES and MCHES credit through the links below:

American Association for Physical Activity and Recreation (AAPAR)

AAPAR's contact hours program is designed to help you document your professional development opportunities provided by the AAHPERD convention and AAPAR workshops. Contact your state, district, or other relevant governing body to affirm that AAPAR/AAHPERD hours are accepted. View the sessions approved for credit here.

National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE)

NASPE offers contact hours toward recertification in the following areas:

• Athletic Training
• PK-12 Physical Education
• National Strength and Conditioning Association

National Dance Association (NDA)

NDA offers contact hours in four categories: PK-12, Higher Education, Private Sectors (studios, community centers), and Dance Science/Somatics. All NDA sessions are approved for continuing education contact hour credit.
