AAHE NCATE University Preparation

Pre-approval is required. The workshop provides assistance to colleges/universities in preparing a program report. The fee is $100 per institution and includes one set of the 2001 Guidelines for AAHE/NCATE Review of Initial Level Programs for Health Education Teacher Preparation, CD-ROM, and other training materials.

Adapted Physical Education Assessment Scale (APEAS II) Workshop

Tuesday, March 13, 8:00am-12:00pm

Registration is required. All participants must bring a laptop to the workshop. Participants receive hands-on practice with administration and scoring performances at the elementary and secondary levels. Instructors use exercises that are unique to this test administration. Participants will also learn to use the software.

NASPE NCACE Coaching Education Accreditation Workshop

This workshop will prepare attendees to compile coaching education program information for accreditation by the National Council for Accreditation of Coaching Education (NCACE). Knowledgeable instructors with experience in successful review will provide valuable insight on how to prepare programs and provide examples of currently accredited programs. 

 

NASPE Recertification Hours: National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification (NATABOC)

Member and Non-Member: $35

NASPE is an approved provider for continuing education for athletic training through the Board of Certification (BOC). According to BOC Guidelines, you may earn one credit per one contact hour. NASPE is also recognized as a provider for the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).

Earn continuing education units (CEUs) to maintain your NSCA Certification at the AAHPERD National Convention.

Physical educators will receive a certificate verifying the number of hours spent attending sessions related to quality physical education. It is the individual's responsibility to verify that hours will be accepted by his/her school district or state, based on state requirements.

 

NASPE/NCATE Aligning Assignments, Assessments & Rubrics for Initial PETE Standards

Pre-registration is HIGHLY recommended. Day of, on-site registrants may not receive workshop materials/handouts. Learn all about developing assignments, assessments, and rubrics targeted at providing data/evidence that candidates meet the PETE standards/elements. Workshop will focus on aligning assessments/rubrics with the standards. Participants should bring along their student internship assessment. Sign up for short consultations with experienced reviewers to discuss assessment in your program. 

 

NASPE/NCATE Initial PETE Standards Program Report Preparation

Pre-registration HIGHLY recommended. Day of, on-site registrants may not receive workshop materials/handouts. This workshop is a pre-requisite to the Wednesday NASPE/NCATE Program Report Reviewer Training. This workshop will review the 2008 Initial PETE standards followed by an in-depth presentation on developing a successful program report. Round table discussions will focus on participant questions related to specific topics. Preparing Option B and C reports will be discussed.

The Tuesday morning NASPE/NCATE Initial PETE Standards Program Report Preparation Workshop is a pre-requisite. This workshop provides an in-depth understanding of the review process and skills necessary to review NASPE/NCATE program reports using the 2008 Initial PETE Standards. Attendees will be expected to participate in the Fall 2012 review cycle.

NDA Heritage Breakfast Banquet Honoring Tap Dance Icon Dianne Walker

NDA celebrates the prestigious dance career of Dianne Walker by presenting her with the Heritage Award. Dianne's lifetime of dedication to the art form of tap dance has taken her to Broadway, television, theatre, universities, workshops and jazz venues throughout the world. She is considered a pioneer in the resurgence of tap dancing and is known fondly as; "America's First Lady of Tap." Her talents are exemplary as a choreographer, performer, teacher, director, and mentor. She has been the recipient of numerous grants and awards and was also a participant in the Dance USA Task Force on Dance Education. As an internationally acclaimed woman in the field of tap dance, we honor her achievements and determined efforts in advocating this truly American art form. All purchasers of banquet tickets are welcome to attend Ms. Walker's Saturday master class at no additional fee.

33rd Annual C. H. McCloy Research Lecture and Breakfast

The annual C. H. McCloy Research Lecture and Breakfast provides a forum for a distinguished leader in the HPERD disciplines to present cutting edge research findings of interest to researchers and practitioners alike. During this widely attended event, the Research Consortium also presents several awards. The lecture serves as a continuing memorial to Charles H. McCloy, one of the great pioneer scientists and leaders of the profession.

Take advantage of this opportunity to visit the Basketball Hall of Fame, which is located approximately 90 minutes from Boston in Springfield, MA. Bus transportation, sponsored by Springfield College, will be departing the Hynes Convention Center at 11:00 am with a return departing the Hall of Fame at 4:00 pm. Participants must purchase an entry ticket for a discounted rate of $12.00.
